Setting up your Domain
Record at the time of
Domain Registration.
|
In order for people on the internet to be able to connect to your web site or to send you email at your new domain, your domain name record must be set up correctly to "point to" the DNS servers that are authoritative for your domain.
The best time to do this is when you initially register your new domain name.
What that means is this: If you have a domain name, then some DNS computer, somewhere, must be "in charge" of your domain. If you are hosting at the Lorian Network, you must set up your registration record for the DNS servers as shown below.
|
|
Setup for the Lorian
Network DNS servers.
|
Primary DNS: Name: dns.lorian.net IP: 216.160.187.245
Secondary DNS: Name: serve1.lorian.net IP: 216.160.187.241

|
What else do I have
to do?
|
You need to tell us that you did it. We need to setup our DNS servers so that they "actually do" know about your domain and point correctly to your new web site. |
|
Administrative,
Technical, and
Billing contacts.
|
When you fill out your domain registration, you are required to fill in contact informatlion for an Administrative, a Technical and a Billing contact for your domain.
If you are building and maintaining the web site yourself, enter YOUR information for the Administrative contact. If we are maintaining your site, enter our information for Administrative contact.
In either case enter the Lorian Network information for the Technical contact.
In either case, enter YOUR information for the billing contact. |

| What is a NIC handle? |
Once contact information has been entered for a registration, that information is saved and given a code number called the NIC handle. Since the Lorian Network has registered many domains before, our information is on file. Some registration services allow you to use this information without re-entering it manually. Just use our NIC handle of: DD15419 |
